Philip Thang
Philip has a preaching and teaching ministry in Mandalay and Yangon, Myanmar. He believes God is calling him to share His blessed hope in Myanmar, at this critical moment for the country. He’s often asked to teach and preach at church youth camps. He is influential to many young preachers and is coaching a few good friends on reading and preaching the Bible. He’s preparing to initiate a small centre for preachers and teachers of the Word.
July 2026 Update:
Please see the update from Philip below:
“Here are a few updates from me:
- Training: I still continue training 3 people from my home. We have class every Wednesday and Thursday (9:00-12:00).
- Building Project: We are currently in discussion with the construction engineer to begin the school building. Due to current instabilities (eg. Petrol), it is difficult to begin such a project. The idea for the training school is to build four bungalows to make it look like a normal place to live, we have to be very discreet, not to make it look anything religious. So far, we have enough funding for one bungalow. We are happy to start with it, and see where the Lord takes us.
- Safety: It is a major concern. Please continue to pray for us. As the war is going longer, everyone is losing. These days, there are many people being kidnapped in broad daylight and drafted to be foot soldiers. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time can be life threatening.
- Personal: The last three months have been a struggle. My home issue and my dad's major operation were very difficult. Thanks be to God, He has sustained me until today. I would like to express my gratitude to St Michael’s for providing the solar panels, throughout the whole summer, it gave me basic necessities for food, water and light. My father can recover from the operation very well.
- Ministry: Apart from Wed/Thursday training, I have plenty of opportunities to teach/preach the Word to 40-50 young people from the church weekly. I praise the Lord for this privilege. Currently the young generation cannot see any hope for their future, and it is a great privilege to share our greatest hope God has given us. I am in a great spirit.
And again, I am very grateful for your gospel partnership, knowing St Michael praying for me is very heartwarming and keeps me going. I really appreciate it!
Lots of love and prayer from Myanmar,
Philip”
